ICRA researcher Gianluigi Buttiglieri took part in the consortium meeting of the AquaLoops4Med project (Mediterranean network for sustainable and circular water management in the agrifood sector, GA 101161349). The project, part of the Interregional Innovation Instrument (I3) call and coordinated by the Catalan Water Partnership, held its meeting in Athens and Lake Plastiras (Greece) from March 2 to 4, 2026.

The event began with a meeting with the Project Officer in Athens to present the project’s progress. Subsequently, the consortium traveled to Lake Plastiras (Thessaly) for the 4th consortium meeting, where the status of the Open Call, technical developments, and the progress of the demonstration pilots were analyzed.

The second day featured the participation of the Association of Industries of Thessaly and Central Greece, representing the region’s industrial sector, and CluBE (Cluster of Bioeconomy and Environment of Western Macedonia), which promotes collaboration in bioeconomy and environmental innovation. The program also included a technical visit to the Lake Plastiras dam and the project’s demo site at the Fresh Milk cattle farm near Trikala to observe the progress of the demonstration activities.

ICRA is involved in several work packages, including the assessment of human health risks associated with crops irrigated with reclaimed wastewater.
