On 18 June, ICRA took part in the BBVA Group Sustainability Conference, held at the bank’s headquarters in Barcelona, with a keynote delivered by ICRA Director Vicenç Acuña.

Under the title “Water and competitiveness: how to transform water risk into a strategic advantage”, the event brought together representatives from the business, financial and water sectors to discuss the challenges arising from increasing pressure on water resources and the opportunities offered by innovation and sustainability.

During his presentation, Vicenç Acuña highlighted that water can no longer be viewed solely as an environmental challenge, but also as a strategic factor for competitiveness, innovation and economic resilience. In a context shaped by climate change, growing demand and increasingly uneven water availability, companies’ ability to anticipate water-related risks and manage water resources efficiently will become increasingly important.
