The vice-rector of Strategic Projects and Internationalization of the UdG, Josep Calbó, has carried out the institutional welcome to the thirty people who have gathered for the working day. The meeting featured presentations on the state of digitization in the water sector, its legal obligations and the management of cyber security in the sector from different perspectives. The day ended with a discussion and a round table of conclusions and future lines of research.
The aim of the Digitalization and Water Cybersecurity Chair is to develop knowledge and capabilities in cyber security applied to the water sector, promoting the culture of cyber security in the state. The Chair aims to deal with the risks generated by digitization in a critical sector such as water service, distribution and sanitation infrastructures.
The complexity of the management of the water cycle and the need for its cyber security implies the need for a multidisciplinary approach, which links with the sum of intelligences, one of the key elements to be developed by the UdG. So much so, that the Strategic Plan UdG2030: the Sum of Intelligence, approved in 2019, already emphasized the need to give relevance to multidisciplinary approaches to face the disruptive challenges of today.
In this sense, the Chair focuses its efforts on the technological and digital development of the companies, citizens and public institutions involved, offering solutions to the most important challenges facing the sector.
