The Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA) has approved its Second Equality Plan for Women and Men, a new framework that builds on the Institute’s commitment to promoting equal opportunities and fostering a working environment based on equality, diversity, respect and non-discrimination.

This second edition of the Plan incorporates the findings of the equality assessment carried out at the Institute and sets out more than 30 actions aimed at continuing to advance gender equality and mainstreaming a gender perspective across the different areas of the organisation.

As a research centre committed to scientific excellence, innovation and the generation of knowledge for the benefit of society, ICRA considers equal opportunities and an inclusive working environment to be essential for high-quality research and for building a socially responsible organisation.

A framework for a more equal organisation

The Second Equality Plan builds on the work carried out by ICRA in recent years and establishes measures to continue progressing towards effective equality between women and men across all areas of the organisation.

The actions included in the Plan address different aspects related to organisational culture, working conditions, people management, communication and the integration of a gender perspective into the Institute’s activities.

Its development also took into account the recommendations of the Strategy for Gender Equality in Science (EIGEC), with the aim of aligning ICRA’s actions with existing policies and recommendations on gender equality in the scientific sector.

The Plan is conceived as a dynamic tool for continuous improvement, allowing the Institute to monitor the implementation of its measures and adapt its actions to the organisation’s evolving needs.

The aim is to continue building an environment where everyone can develop their professional careers under equal conditions and in a workplace free from any form of discrimination on the grounds of sex or gender, while further strengthening ICRA’s commitment to responsible research and the Sustainable Development Goals.
