We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work on various projects and contracts in the Line Chemical contaminants in water treatments that require the participation of personnel with extensive knowledge and experience in advanced analysis by LC-MS and LC-HRMS (Orbitrap) and HRMS data processing. In the first place, the candidate selected will participate in the European ProCleanLakes project with the task to carry out a suspect screening analysis of emerging contaminants using LC-orbitrap to identify contaminants occurring in 6 European lakes and to monitor their presence after implementation of nature based solutions (NBS). Another project is a contract with the Catalan Water Agency for the analysis of antibiotics and other emerging pollutants in groundwater. And finally, the contract with CSIR South Africa with analysis of pharmaceuticals and other emerging contaminants in surface, residual and coastal waters.



Sample preparation using SPE techniques for the preconcentration of contaminants from water samples. Analysis of samples using methods based on LC-MS/MS and LC-HRMS (Orbitrap) following protocols for suspect screening, target analysis and non-target screening. Evaluation of obtained data and their statistical analysis. Elaboration of reports and communication with project/contract founders. Participation in preparation of proposals for new calls on topics related with the aims of the research line Chemical contaminants in water treatments.



Must have – Required

Research Field or Field of knowledge:

Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry or related field

Qualifications and Education Level:

PhD in chemistry, environmental chemistry, analytical chemistry or related field


Skills in preparation of environmental samples for chemical analysis, instrumental chemical analysis, Excellent organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Power Point, etc.)

Required Languages:

English, Spanish, Catalan

Required Experience:

Minimum 3 years of postdoctoral experience as postdoctoral researcher or advanced technician working on projects with topics related with the study of emerging contaminants. Practical experience in sample preparation of environmental samples (water, soil, etc.) and analysis using LC-MS and LC-HRMS. Experience in HRMS data treatments.



Knowledge on statistical methods. Driving licence.
