RESEARCH TECHNICIAN ADVANCED (RTA_EXPOWASTE)

  • Expected start: December 1st, 2024
  • Temporal Position. The position is for 21 months (December 2024 – August 2026)
  • Gross Annual Salary package: €24,000

 

OFFER DESCRIPTION

The EXPOWASTE project aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of exposure to harmful chemicals and antibiotic-resistant pathogens that threaten human life through the integration of human biomonitoring (HBM) and wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) at both local and regional levels.

To this end, an advanced research technician is required to support the research team’s activities during sampling campaigns and sample processing, including the extraction of genetic material from the bacterial fraction, as well as assisting with bioinformatics analyses. The technician will also be responsible for drafting the technical reports related to the project and for maintaining and updating the experimental procedures.

This contract is part of the EXPOWASTE project (PID2022-139446OB-C21), financed by MCIU/AEI /10.13039/501100011033/ and by FEDER, EU.

 

KEY DUTIES

Provide support for the research team’s activities during sampling campaigns and sample processing, conduct DNA extraction from wastewater samples, perform whole genome and metagenomic analyses (bioinformatics), standardize experimental procedures, and draft technical reports.

 

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Must have – Required

Research Field or Field of knowledge:

Biology, Biotechnology, Environmental Sciences, or a related field

Qualifications and Education Level:

Master’s degree in Microbiology or an equivalent qualification.

Skills:

Strong ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary and research teams, demonstrating autonomy and a methodical approach.

A valid driving license is required.

Required Languages:

Spanish, English, and Catalan

Required Experience:

Experience in manipulating and processing wastewater samples, as well as conducting microbiological analyses, applying molecular biology techniques, drafting technical reports, and effectively presenting and communicating scientific and technical results.

 

Desirable

Experience in molecular biology techniques and bioinformatics.

Selection process:

In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process.
